I Need Help With This Site!

I'm asking anyone who is a fan of this site to become a co-writer for
it.  I have a new job that will take away from the amount of time I can
put into this website.  I'm probably only going to have time for a
couple of articles a week, which is hardly enough to keep visitors
coming back.  All you would have to do is e-mail me the article and I
would be able to post it and give you credit for it.

Have your opinion heard!  A different viewpoint would be great for
this site.  Please e-mail me if your interested.  My e-mail address is

Sleepless Since Seattle:  Part II

NOV. 4 – at PHILADELPHIA  (NBC, 7:15 p.m.)
Terrell Owens goes back for a family reunion. Dallas plays another
big game on another big night.  It is never easy in Philly, regardless
of the year.  McNabb wants this one more than Romo.  Do not pass
go, do not collect another win.  Fall back one space to mediocre at
mid-season with a 4-4 record.

NOV. 11 – at N.Y. GIANTS (FOX, 3:15 p.m.)
Dallas goes for the sweep against the Giants who are victimized by
Manning mistakes once again.  Dallas goes to 5-4 and talk of
benching Peyton, Jr. is out of control in the Big Apple.

NOV. 18 – WASHINGTON  (FOX, noon)
How does the best rivalry in the NFL get left out of national tv
exposure?  Somebody in marketing missed out.  However, Dallas
won’t miss out as Romo has a huge game against a team that is
searching for a pass rush.  Boys win big over the Deadskins and
go to 6-4.

NOV. 22 – NEW YORK JETS (CBS, Thanksgiving Day, 3:15 p.m.)

Pretty boring matchup for all the couch potatoes who can barely
keep their eyes open late in the afternoon following a big feed.
Dallas wins a non-inspiring contest with some ugly uniforms
(remember those Thanksgiving throwbacks??).  Chalk it up to 7-4.

NOV. 29 – GREEN BAY (NFL Network, 7:15 p.m.)
Strange schedule this year….two straight Thursday games?  But
this one could be interesting as Brett pays his last visit to Texas
Stadium where he lost some big games in the ‘90s.  He will lose his
last game in Dallas in 2007 as well.  The Pack is not back and the
‘Boys pass rush harrasses Favre all night long as Anthony Spencer
and Demarcus Ware play strong on the national stage.  Wade’s
warriors move to a respectable 8-4.

DEC. 9 – at DETROIT  (FOX, noon)
The Cowboys need to take this one seriously because they went to
sleep in the Lions den in the last game of 2006.   This should be a
different situation with an improving Dallas D and a maturing Tony
Romo.  The Dallas running game, however, will be the major
difference in this one.  Dallas moves on to 9-4.

DEC. 16 – PHILADELPHIA (FOX, 3:15 p.m.)
This game could decide the division winner in the NFC East.  Dallas
is coming together at the right time and learning how to have a
dominating defense.  Without his big-time receivers, McNabb will
spend a lot of time scrambling for help.  He won’t be able to get
away from DOOMSDAY.  Cowboys conquer a tough divisional foe
and go to 10-4.

DEC. 22 – at CAROLINA  (NFL Network, 7:15 p.m.)
Why do we have to go to Carolina every year?  I guess it doesn’t
matter if the ‘Boys play like they did last year and the Panthers fall
apart again.  Carolina will really need this one and will want it more
than Dallas .  Panthers pass the Pokes and Jerry Jones Inc. falls to
10-5 needing a win to claim the division.

DEC. 30 – at WASHINGTON (FOX, noon)
Redskin fans would rather beat Dallas than win the Super Bowl.  If
you don’t believe that, you have never been to Washington for a
Cowboys & Indians showdown.  Dallas will need a win to clinch the
division.  Washington will have nothing to play for except the big
rivalry game and the last game Joe Gibbs will ever coach.
Redskins scalp the ‘Boys and Joe jolts back to Nascar as players
carry him off the field.    Dallas ties Philly for the division and claims
the division on tie-breakers.   Dallas settles for a 10-6 record a first
round playoff game at home.

The Cowboys win their first playoff game in a decade playing at
home and drop out in the second round on the road at New
Orleans.  The season ends at 11-7 with a playoff breakthrough and
a glimpse of the future.  Dallas develops a dominating, pass-
rushing defense with a strong running attack featuring a two-back
set.  Tony Romo, Marion Barber, Anthony Spencer, Demarcus
Ware, Jason Witten and T.O. have big years.  Tony grows up a
little more and takes another step toward championship level.
Terry Glenn considers retirement.  The secondary still needs
another playmaker at safety.  Jerry and Wade ponder about what
to do with the number one pick in the draft via the trade with
Cleveland for Brady Quinn which wins 3 games the entire year.
Jerry eventually trades down with the pick and looks for a strong
safety and another wide receiver in the first round.  Julius Jones
bolts for free agency and Michael Turner signs with the Cowboys.

I’m no football Nostradamus, but hold on to this article and check
me out.  If I miss it badly….please send your complaints and
criticisms to Jeremy Dunklin!   I just hope the last game of this
season does not end on a fumbled snap.   I have been sleepless
since Seattle .

Breakin' Down the Roster:  Running Backs

The second part of my series feature the running backs.  This
appears to be one of the stronger positions on the team, but only
time will tell.

The biggest story going into next season at the running back
position will be how the workload is split up.  Julius Jones tried to
blame Parcells for making him run like a robot, but the reality is
Parcells said several times last season that Jones was running too
much like a robot.  He also complained about not getting the ball
enough in the second half of the season, but again, if the backup
RB is playing twice as good as you are, you aren't going to get as
many carries.  I think that a lot of coaches would have actually went
with Barber as the starter the second half of last season so Jones
should be happy he even played as bad as he was performing.

Its really to early to know who will be the starter, but with a new
regime there won't be any special treatment given to Jones.  He will
have to earn his playing time.  I don't buy all the talk this past week
about how he will be improved next season.  I've seen him for three
years now.  He is only an average running back and he isn't going
to get much if any better.

The best aspect of this position is depth.  Marion Barber is one of
the top backup running backs in the NFL.  I think there is a pretty
good chance he starts next season though if Jones and him both
play about the same as they did last season.  I think this guy is
ready to carry the load.  The only flaw in his game is speed, but hey
is Julius Jones really that much faster?  Jones has only broken one
long run in his three year career.  I wouldn't call that a home run
hitter.  Now he does have a better burst, but Barber is better in
every other aspect of the position.  He is a better blocker, a better
receiver, he has more power, he has better vision, and he really
has more nimble feet.

The true home run hitter on this team is Tyson Thompson.  I look
for him to finally get some carries this season.  He would have
gotten some last season if he hadn't got hurt.  He will never be a
starter because he lacks power and agility, but his open field speed
is down right scary.

Filling out the roster at running back is Alonzo Coleman.  He was a
productive running back at Hampton who has a good combination of
skills.  He probably won't make the team, but he appears to be a
likely candidate for the practice squad.  I knew quite a bit about this
guy heading into the draft and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if this
guy was contributing for some team down the road.
