I Need Help With This Site!

I'm asking anyone who is a fan of this site to become a co-writer for
it.  I have a new job that will take away from the amount of time I can
put into this website.  I'm probably only going to have time for a
couple of articles a week, which is hardly enough to keep visitors
coming back.  All you would have to do is e-mail me the article and I
would be able to post it and give you credit for it.

Have your opinion heard!  A different viewpoint would be great for
this site.  Please e-mail me if your interested.  My e-mail address is

Full 1st Round Mock Draft

This is my first version of my full 32 team mock draft.  I hope to
have three rounds done by draft time.  I don't see to many holes in
this list.  Every pick makes sense to me.  The only guy who isn't on
here is Greg Olsen.  He will probably be a good pick, but I don't
know where to put him.  Many have him going to Carolina at #14,
but that is a reach.  After Carolina and Green Bay, I don't see a
team that really needs a tight end.

1.  Oakland Raiders – QB JaMarcus Russell
2.  Detroit Lions – QB Brady Quinn
3.  Cleveland Browns – RB Adrian Peterson
4.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers – WR Calvin Johnson
5.  Arizona Cardinals – OT Joe Thomas
6.  Washington Redskins – DE Jamaal Anderson
7.  Minnesota Vikings – DE Gaines Adams
8.  Atlanta Falcons – FS LaRon Landry
9.  Miami Dolphins – DT Alan Branch
10.  Houston Texans – OT Levi Brown
11.  San Francisco 49ers – DE Adam Carriker
12.  Buffalo Bills – CB Leon Hall
13.  St. Louis Rams – DT Amobi Okoye
14.  Carolina Panthers – MLB Patrick Willis
15.  Pittsburgh Steelers – CB Chris Houston
16.  Green Bay Packers – RB Marshawn Lynch.
17.  Jacksonville Jaguars – WR Ted Ginn Jr.
18.  Cincinnati Bengals – LB Paul Posluszny
19.  Tennessee Titans – WR Dwayne Jarrett
20.  New York Giants – CB Darrell Revis
21.  Denver Broncos – FS Reggie Nelson
22.  Dallas Cowboys – WR Robert Meachem
23.  Kansas City Chiefs – WR Dwayne Bowe
24.  New England Patriots – FS Michael Griffin
25.  New York Jets – DE/OLB Jarvis Moss
26.  Philadelphia Eagles – LB Jon Beason
27.  New Orleans Saints – CB Aaron Ross
28.  New England Patriots – RB/FB Brian Leonard
29.  Baltimore Ravens – OT Joe Staley
30.  San Diego Chargers – WR Sidney Rice
31.  Chicago Bears – G/T Arron Sears
32.  Indianapolis Colts – LB Lawrence Timmons

Any time a team can go into the draft without any glaring
weaknesses they are in great shape.  The reason being they can
take the best player available instead of taking an inferior talent at a
position of absolute need.  Now, we are used to hearing the term
best player available, but it has never really been a reality for the
Dallas Cowboys because we've always had glaring needs coming
into the draft.

That definitely isn't the case this season.  We have filled all our
big-time needs already.  This is huge because we can take
whatever position we want, not to mention it is always bad to rely on
a rookie to fill a hole because most rookies aren't ready to
contribute until their 2nd or 3rd season.

Baring injury, our starters on opening weekend are already on the
roster.  No matter what positions we take in the first few rounds,
none of these players are likely to play.  This opens up the door for
us to take whoever we see fit.

I would recommend taking a wide receiver or cornerback, two
positions with relatively steep learning curves.  You don't want to
take a WR in the 1st round when you need help immediately.  We
don't, so why not make an investment that will pay of in 2 or 3
seasons when you need an infusion of talent.

This lack of needs makes our 1st pick impossible to predict.  I'd say
there is an excellent chance we will end up taking a player who slips
out of the Top 15.  It might be a guy who isn't even on your radar at
a position that isn't either.

If I had to guess though, I would predict we would take a WR or DB.
Reggie Nelson is a definite option because he would probably fit the
bill of BPA.  We signed Hamlin, but he isn't a slam dunk free safety
of the future.  Cornerbacks like Darrell Revis or Chris Houston
would be great picks although I'd be surprised if they are available
at #22.  Wide Receiver is the only position I see still having good
value that far back in the 1st round.  Dwayne Bowe, Robert
Meachem, or Sidney Rice would be great picks there.

I know I'm getting pumped for the draft.  Its exciting to think that we
have a great chance to get some really good players.  We really
need to make the right picks.  I don't care who we draft or at what
positions as long as we get good players.  There is no excuse for us
not to have a good draft because we aren't handicapped by needs
that have to be filled.  We aren't in a position where we have to
reach for a player at a certain position.  So Jerry, you have the
ammo to have an amazing draft class, so lets make it happen.
