I Need Help With This Site!
I'm asking anyone who is a fan of this site to become a co-writer for
it. I have a new job that will take away from the amount of time I can
put into this website. I'm probably only going to have time for a
couple of articles a week, which is hardly enough to keep visitors
coming back. All you would have to do is e-mail me the article and I
would be able to post it and give you credit for it.
Have your opinion heard! A different viewpoint would be great for
this site. Please e-mail me if your interested. My e-mail address is

Mock Draft Version 3.0
I think its safe to say we aren't going to be making any more major
splashes in free agency. We will probably sign a backup inside
linebacker since Ryan Fowler is headed to Philadelphia. With free
agency all but finished, I figured it was time for another mock draft.
1. WR Sidney Rice South Carolina 6'4 200 4.51
We are getting pretty old at receiver, and there is a good chance
Terrell Owens will be sent packing. This is an excellent year to
draft a WR. Rice and possibly Robert Meachem could be available
at #22, although Meachem probably won't be. Most years both are
Top 15 picks. Safety is a possibility, but if Reggie Nelson is off the
board I simply don't see the value in taking Michael Griffin or
Brandon Meriweather versus Rice.
2. FS Eric Weddle Utah 5'11 203 4.48
If we could land Weddle at this spot, we would be sitting pretty. He
is probably the most accomplished defensive player in the draft. He
played mostly cornerback in college, but he will play safety in the
pros. He is considered a late 2nd round pick by most, but I don't
really understand why. He has good measureables and athleticism
and his intangibles are through the roof. I could definitely see him
get drafted by a team earlier than this that wants a high character
player. We would be in trouble if we took a WR in the 1st round
and couldn't get Weddle. It would probably be worth the risk
though because none of the WRs available in the 2nd round
impress me.
3. OT Doug Free N. Illinois 6'6 324 5.24
Free is an amazingly gifted athlete. He needs to develop more
strength, but he has the ability to play left tackle. He could also
project to guard for teams looking for a good pulling guard. He is
raw, but he gives us another developmental guy at tackle.
4. NT Paul Soliai Utah 6'4 344 5.14
Prototypical nose tackle prospect. Big, strong and fairly athletic.
Hold his ground at the point of attack. Lacks the pass rushing
ability 4-3 teams covet.
5. OLB Jacob Ford C. Arkansas 6'3 247 4.65
Ford is an athletic edge rusher who can be a terror in an
opponent's backfield. He is raw and needs to develop more
strength and pass rushing moves, but he has the ability to be a
standout OLB in our 3-4 defense.
6. CB Ryan Smith Florida 5'11 174 4.62
Smith was one of the most productive corners in college last
season. He is frail, but all he does is make plays. His forty from the
combine is horrible, but I've read where he has ran better times in
the past. He lacks measurables, but has amazing ball skills and he
reminds me of Aaron Glenn.
7. QB Drew Tate Iowa 5'11 192 4.75
Seems like the perfect guy to groom as a backup quarterback.
Amazing leader who simply lacks the physical ability to start.
7. C/G Lyle Sendlein Texas 6'4 305 5.35
Depth at both guard and center.
7. ILB Cameron Jensen BYU 6'2 245 4.85
Good special teamer who might add depth at ILB.
Time To Fill Out the Depth Chart
Sorry for not having any new articles for so long. I was having
problems with my SiteBuilder. I couldn't even open the program for
over a week.
After two full weeks of hibernation it appears the second phase of
free agency is finally beginning for the Dallas Cowboys. The main
goal from now on will be to acquire depth that will increase our
flexibility on draft day. We signed three guys Tuesday, but they
aren't really the guys I'm talking about. Those three guys are camp
bodies who probably won't make the team.
You might ask what positions we could be looking to add depth at. I
see four positions we should be targeting. We would do good to
add solid backups at two of these.
The most major one in my opinion is nose tackle. If we could bring
in a backup nose tackle like Anthony Adams, Marcus Bell, or
Alphonso Boone it would provide depth behind Jason Ferguson that
we definitely lack. It would also allow Jay Ratliff to move to his more
natural position of DE where he could compete for a starting job. If
Ratliff is once again our backup nose tackle, it leaves us in big
trouble if Ferguson gets hurt and it also is forcing a good young
player to play somewhat out of position for another year, stunting
his possible growth at the position he could legitimately start at.
The biggest veteran depth need is backup center. I don't know how
high we are on Joe Berger, and I also don't know how good of a
center him and Corey Procter can be. We would be in big trouble if
Andre Gurode went down with an injury.
Inside linebacker is a major need depth wise with the loss of Ryan
Fowler. Bobby Carpenter could play inside, but if he doesn't we
don't have a single player on the roster at ILB besides James and
Ayodele. Hopefully we can pick up a guy similar to Fowler, a guy
who is a solid backup and a good special teams performer.
Lastly you have free safety. He are bringing Ken Hamlin in for a
visit tomorrow. He would obviously start if we was signed. He is
more of an in-the-box safety, but if we could sign him for fairly cheap
I wouldn't mind it. He is a playmaker and he isn't that bad in
coverage.
If we go the route of depth, which isn't a necessity with us already
having Watkins, Williams, and Davis not to mention the fact that we
will most certainly draft a guy pretty early if we don't sign Hamlin, we
could try to re-sign Tony Parrish. This guy was All-Pro in 2003 and
he isn't all that old. He evidently wasn't ready to play a whole lot last
season, but the more bodies the better at free safety.
Overall, we aren't completely done in free agency. We probably
won't be making any more big splashes unless we sign Ken Hamlin
which would be considered as such. My dream scenario is for us to
sign a low budget veteran at all four positions. That would allow us
to go into the draft with a very small number of needs which would
allow us to take the best player available.
