I Need Help With This Site!

I'm asking anyone who is a fan of this site to become a co-writer for
it.  I have a new job that will take away from the amount of time I can
put into this website.  I'm probably only going to have time for a
couple of articles a week, which is hardly enough to keep visitors
coming back.  All you would have to do is e-mail me the article and I
would be able to post it and give you credit for it.

Have your opinion heard!  A different viewpoint would be great for
this site.  Please e-mail me if your interested.  My e-mail address is

CAN YOU SMELL THE TUNA?
By:  Ed Cormier

I for one am very glad Parcells is gone. His dictator style of
coaching doesn't work anymore.  Parcells' ego goes far beyond
what we see on the screen.  He wants you to believe that he is a
guru and his darts directed toward the media is his way of trying to
manipulate emotion from the fans against the media.  Now certainly
the media is at fault for their insane, insatiable appetite for making a
story bigger and better than the next guy. If you were one of the
media types in Terrell Owens driveway watching him do sit ups then
you need a hobby or a friend.

However I digress. In Bill's mind he thought we would enjoy listening
to him opine from time to time about football.  I couldn't care less if
Parcells had a news conference every day. It was all about what he
knew and you not knowing what he was thinking. Tisk tisk Bill. You
can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people
some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
What did the Tuna do for Dallas?

Lets review : 03 draft Cowboys select Terrance Newman truth be
told with the 31 pick the Raiders selected Nadidi Asomugha and he
is a better player. In the second round the Cowboys select Al
Johnson , why? The 54th pick was Anquan Boldin, the 56th pick was
Osi Umenyoria, the 64th pick was Dewayne Wright. Al Johnson has
been a dissapointing bust. Bill did draft Witten in the 03 draft , but
stay with me on this.

04 draft: Dallas trades out of the first round and drafts Julius Jones,
mediocre runner at best. next up , Jacob Rogers , Rogers was
injured his senior year at USC.  He was injured coming into camp
with a bum shoulder.  Third round and Bill drafts Peterman from
LSU. Now your asking, okay smart guy who should we have drafted
that was available ? Glad you asked , Shaun Phillips , you know the
other outside linebacker who plays for San Diego. Remember San
Diego. How about Nathan Vasher a good corner and a scosh
cheaper than the 10 mil signing bonus doled out to Henry.  Ever
hear of Bob Sanders , yeah the one who plays for the Colts. Could
have had him too. Does anyone believe Roy Williams is better than
Bob Sanders?  I will get to Williams at a later date.

05 draft: This is where Dallas was supposed to get back in the
game. Two first round picks. First up DeMarcus Ware . Good choice
but Merriman is better. He plays for San Diego.  Next up Marcus
Spears, San Diego selects Luis Castillo , he is better than Spears.  I
am hoping with the hiring of Wade Phillips that Spears and Ware
can turn into Castillo and Merriman. So do you if you are a Cowboys
fan.
06 draft: Bobby Carpenter is a wait and see prospect. Next up,
Anthony Fasano , WHAT!!!, Bill could have had Marcus McNeil a
rookie who was voted to the Pro Bowl and didn't have one holding
call all year. He plays for San Diego. Is there any wonder why the
Chargers are head and shoulders above Dallas in the talent
department ? Dallas is in dire need of some young o-line talent. Flo
will be gone next year , we don't know if Colombo will come back.
Rivera was a complete bust , Kosier is weak.  4th pick , Skyler
Green when Dallas should have taken Rob Sims or Jahri Evans a
rookie guard who started every game for the Saints.

I won't miss the rhetoric spewing coach who wouldn't make
defensive adjustments because of his ego. I won't miss the ego
maniac driven coach who wouldn't bench Rivera and start Procter.
Nope, I won't miss Bill and his reclamation projects ie, Bledsoe,
Anderson, Rivera etc.  Bill was a legend in his own mind, certainly
not in Dallas.  It doesn't take a genius to ascertain that Bill didn't get
it done  Then Bill takes forever to decide if he wants to coach again.
Yep yep yep, sure smells fishy to me. Thanks Tuna.

Cowboys Off-Season Grumblings

81. The number makes me tremble in fear. I have my thoughts
known about this guy. Dump him. I know we have no depth at
receiver even with the guy, but the bad clearly outweighs the good. I
am a coach in real life and I have a couple of students who are good
athletes but they are jerks. And guess who their role model is? It
sickens me when they say it. I mean this is stupid. I know TO made
the first call in reaching out to his new head coach and that
surprised me considering what Randy Moss did when his head
coach tried to reach out to him.

So maybe it will work. Sorry, temporary insanity moment. It will never
work. I mean look at how TO responded when Parcells left. He just
could not wait to unleash all hell on what he thought of Parcells. And
saying the offense did not do a good job of using him. Well he
caught the most passes since Michael Irvin, he had over 10
touchdowns and over 1,000 yards and considering you played for
conservative Parcells, that is a lot. Of course if you count all the
drops, he could have had over 100 catches. But I know, those are
not his fault. Cowboys, dump him. Jerry, are you afraid by dumping
him you are admitting to a mistake? Well, you had no trouble
admitting when you fired coaches you hired or letting go of a Mike
Vanderjagt for being a mental case. So what is one more? You're
afraid we will think less of your football IQ. Don't worry Jerry. We
know you have no football IQ already, so what is the harm. Sign a
Donte Stallworth through free agency or trade a draft pick for Larry
Fitzgerald is my solution.

Tony Romo is going to be a big deal in the off-season. Much was
made on the hiring of Jason Garrett as offensive coordinator, even
with only having 2 years of experience as an assistant and none as
a coordinator. There was also rumor that Norv Turner would be
hired as the head coach so he and Garrett would groom Romo
together. Well I was thinking if it was so important to get the right
coach to tutor Romo, why was it not important when Parcells was
here. Granted Parcells is a Hall of Fame coach but he is no QB
genius. His best QB, Phil Simms is not in the Hall and his second
best, Bledsoe has been replaced twice in his career. No one seem
concerned when that staff was in place so why is it such a big deal.

Norv Turner was not know by media when he was hired as the
Cowboys off. coordinator in '91. But he was widely know in the
coaching ranks. The Same has been with Garrett. Apparently a lot
has been made of him as an assistant, and was mentioned by other
head coaching candidates interviewing for other teams as possibly
joining their staff as a coordinator. So there is obviously something
special here. We will not know until the season starts but lets see
how Romo responds to this. I mean I hope he is still over the missed
FG hold, I mean it was not his specialty, and I think the Cowboys
should find someone else for that role this season. Romo's
development will be a huge headline which I think it much ado about
nothing really if you ask me. He will be fine. I mean it is not like hiring
Tom Walsh, who had been running a bed & breakfast for ten years
before being hired as off. coordiantor for the Raiders. And all this
talk about Phillips not being an offensive-minded guy and that it will
not benefit Romo is stupid. Remember a QB named Elway? Phillips
was his coach for two seasons and Elway had some of his best
statistcial years under Phillips after years of being held on a leash
by Dan Reeves. So I am sure Wade knows a little about QBs.

The defense needs to improve. One of the complaints about the
defense last year was that they were being held back by Parcells.
When the players and assistants felt they needed to be more
aggressive, Parcells played it conservative. Phillips is known for
blitzing a lot on his 3-4. By getting a pass rush going by someone
else not named Demarcus Ware, this will allow the secondary to play
a better level. The reason the secondary got lit up last year could
have been due to the defenses' lack of a psss rush and the ability
for the QB to have time to see the field and receivers having time to
adjust their route and get open. So the secondary might not be as
bad as advertised.

All together though the offseason is going to be a roller coaster and
lets just hope this brings the Lombardi Trophy back to Big D
sometime soon.

Upside. Michael Irvin gets into the Hall of Fame. I have felt because
of how he played on the field he should be in. I mean how many
times do you hear people say that a team needs a tough receiver
willing to go over the middle like a Micahel Irvin? A lot. He redefined
the postition, unlike another Hall of Fame candidate, Art Monk, who I
do not hear anyone say that he needs to be like an Art Monk. You
also had coaches scheming and making gameplans to try to stop
Irvin. Irvin getting in is over due.
